Powering back up (was Re: zoomer alarm visual notification)

I've never had this problem -- when I power up, it recognises taps
immediately. However, if I'm turning it on after it's been off for
a couple of hours, it will shut itself off after about five seconds,
and when I bring it back up again, it stays on.
