Lots of poring over b:\net.ini and a:\net.ini has pointed me at the
[input] section, and the "noKeyboard" item therein, which, if set to
false, disables the Graffiti window. duh. Now I really feel smart.
I left this line out of my net.ini file.
>> This makes it tough to enter in periods.
I haven't gotten a lot of luck out of the Left-Right sequence to
generate a period (which seems logical) but have actually gotten good
at the "small-circle" method.

Turns out the Zoomer Text Editor (which seems to be an older version
of the BMS Text Editor) *can* accept writing on the text window.
Something must have changed in the upgrades.

This turned out to be caused by turning "clickToType" to false, just
like in Unix. Another one for the intelligence police, cheez...
Thanks for everyone's help. Now, if only I could get Graffiti to
generate control-key sequences for ZComm Lite...
