Registration of .TXT files to the Text Editor?

Folks,

This is kind of esoteric, so I might be completely full of it here.
Please bear with me.

There is a section in GEOS.INI that appears to relate certain file
types to certain applications. I assume this is the section:

[fileManager]

...

filenameTokens = {
*.BAT = "gDOS".0
*.EXE = "gDOS".0
*.COM = "gDOS".0
*.IZL = "gDOS".0. "IZL".0
}

Now, what can I do to make a file with the extension .TXT come up in
the Text Editor?

Is it possible? Is it even related to this section?

For example, how do Note Pad documents "know" how to come up in the
Note Pad?

Thanks for your help,
