Re: IR Transmitter Used as a TV Remote?

I've looked at the output of IR port, and it is not modulated at the
same frequency as they use IR remotes (~30kHz). I checked with Feras
Information Tech to see if IZL can write directly to the hardware to
change the modulation frequency, but it cannot. Thus, you will probably
have to get the Geoworks SDK to create a new driver to support the
IR remotes. Also, there is a high power IR transmit mode that would
provide reasonable remote control range, but again, a new driver must
be created to support this. When I get some time, I may make a IR to
serial converter. This at least can be done without any software changes.

Good luck.

I know the Zoomer can transmitt IR singnal, would it be possible, or has it
already been done.... that someone could write a program to emulate a remote
control for a VCR or TV? I know it's not really a practial application, but it
would be kinda fun. :)

Also, what ever happened to the C that might have been introduced for the
Zoomer? I'd love to start writing progams for the zoomer, but I don't want
to get the full blown SDK from GEOS. Is there some compiler besides IZL that
I can use to create programs on the zoomer?
