High cost of connectivity

I've really enjoyed using my OG; however, I'm disappointed that HP didn't provide a low cost way to back up user data. If you use either a SRAM card or the Connectivity Pack, you're looking at about $100. I wish they had made it possible to back up user data to a PC simply with the serial cable.
