1) Fax/modem - I called the HP tech support. They say that there is not
currently a fax/modem for the OmniGo. One is being developed. I thought
I saw some other posts where people were actually logging on to AOL using
an OmniGo. What type of modem was being used? How did you get your
communications software or AOL software on the OmniGO? I need
communications on my OmniGo for it to be very useful.
2) HP Connectivity Pack, Adding Software - I bought the HP Connectivity
Pack for $109 + tax. It seems to be mainly a backup tool for phone,
appointment and notepad files. It doesn't give you any visibility of the
OmniGo file structure, and it will only put files into the
ram:/geoworks/documents directory. How is anyone else doing OmniGo file
management? How do you add software?? I downloaded a Price Track geo
program from AOL and moved it to my OmniGo. The OmniGo did not recognize
any new program. I called HP tech support who recommended that I do a
soft reboot. That didn't help either.
In sum, the OmniGo has a lot of appeal and a lot of potential, but right
now I can only use it as a pocket organizer/calculator. I can't log on
to AOL or the internet. I can't add software. I can't do even
rudimentary file management.
Has anyone else had better success w/ any of this? I would hate for Omni
to Go back to the store.
