My other 2 cents (for a total of 4 cents ;-).

Alex,
One more thing: it would probably be worth looking through the different
newsgroups for people that are selling their Ogo 120's. I thought I saw
a posting for somebody who was selling their 120 AND the connectivity
pack for $280. That's a great deal . . . that caused me to mentally kick
myself!!!
Aaaanyway, take a look at comp.sys.handhelds and/or comp.sys.palmtops.
Those two seem to be the most heavily traffic'd with this sort of stuff.
Hope this helps . . .

Alex,
If you're going to go with an Ogo, get the 120. I have one and find the
new screen to be readable in most circumstances. In regards to the
battery life, it really isn't that great. I would consider myself a
heavy user and I'm going through alkalines almost weekly (usually around
a week and a half or so). I've heard a couple of sets of rechargable
alkalines with a charger would take care of most of this problem though.
I've actually got a set up where I'm getting free batteries from my
wife's work (surgeries are pretty wasteful . . . thank goodness!!!).
I looked long and hard at the USR Pilot. There's some definite tradeoffs
between the Ogo and the Pilot. In the Pilot's favor: size, battery
life, speed, pc connectivity (cradle and software) and programmer
popularity (which means more programs). In the Ogo's favor: durability,
base application flexibility and power, PCMCIA slot, memory, physical
keyboard (this would be debated by Pilot users, but I say try inputting
info in the Pilot using Graffiti or the virtual keyboard while walking or
in a moving car . . . I don't see it as feasible). As I saw it, between
the Pilot and the Ogo, you'd have to spend about an extra 80-100 bucks
either way (Ogo, for the connectivity pack. Pilot, for the 1 meg
upgrade). Though for the Ogo, if you just want to back up the files
rather than sync them with anything, the pc cable's only about $20 and
there's plenty of freeware out there to help you do it. I'll probably
end up doing that after the Christmas season.
You might want to take a look at a Psion Sienna. I played with one at a
store this weekend and was impressed by it. It doesn't have any pen
input functionality though. Outside of that, it was very fast, very
small and seemed pretty powerful. I don't think I'll be giving up my Ogo
just yet though . . . (leggo' my Ogo). A friend of mine has a Psion 3a
or 3c (I can't remember) but he loves it and pretty much gave up on his
Pilot -- he said he was to attached to the keyboard input to leave it
behind like the Pilot did. He bought a Pilot because his Psion broke and
he is planning on having his Psion fixed for a couple hundred bucks
rather than keep using his Pilot . . . last I heard anyway. He wanted me
to trade my Ogo for his Pilot 1000 -- after a weekend of side by side
comparison . . . I decided to stick to the Ogo. The trade offs kept it
pretty even.
Hope this helps . . .

Hi. I am seriously considering buying an Omnigo 100/120. Is there
anything that I should know? Is there a good reason to pay the premium
for the 120 or is the 100 just as good? I have read the archives of the
group, and would like to know also - is the battery life THAT bad? Is
this a reason not to buy the Omnigo? Are there any other organizers
that I should consider if the Omnigo _seems_ to be the best product for
my needs?
Alex.
