* Having Text File Editor and GeoComm is just heaven!!!
* GeoDraw, Tetris, and GeoManager ran before I started all this, but
getting the link feature in GeoManager to work has made connectivity a lot
better. Also, having working DOS launchers is awesome, too. For example, I
can now play with ZIP files on my OmniGo using UNZIPOPT.
* Having GeoWrite is very cool. It works great, but I have to scroll a lot
on documents I bring over from the desktop. You can also use the Graffiti
window if you don't like to use the keyboard.
* GeoFile used to be KR-09 prone, but I haven't had much trouble since I
bumped up the handles.
* GeoCalc, unfortunately, is totally unusable. It dies straight off with a
KR-09 error. I suppose If I actually wanted to use it I could find out how
to get around this little problem, though. Besides, the OmniGo already has
a spreadsheet.
* Now screen size is the only limiting factor when it comes to GEOS
programs.
* In general, speed is acceptable. For instance, GeoWrite more than keeps
up with my typing. The time it takes to launch and exit from programs is
generally bad unless they are in memory already. For some reason exiting to
the Home Screen sometimes takes several seconds. So I just use the Express
Menu all the time. :-)
* The more I think about it, the less I think I did to get desktop apps to
run on my OmniGo. I think as long as you have space for the swap, set the
swap up correctly, and not have SYS: be your system top, then you should be
able to run desktop apps.
* I used to have to set the time and date everytime I had a KR-09 error
(which used to happen a lot, but now is fairly rare), but now I don't. It
may have something to do with copying over the World Time database.
* The Transfer app restores to the flash card, not to the B: drive. That
would be fine if the HP Connectivity pack synched up the E: drive. But it
doesn't, so it's time to see if I can get LapLink to work with it.
Main OmniGo gripes:
* Multiple ToDo lists would be nice.
* Bookreader won't deal with subdirectories.
* No drive selector on file selector widget thingie. ( I suppose I could
try not loading JMOTIF.GEO)
* HP Connectivity pack only deals with B:\GEOWORKS\DOCUMENT.
* Doesn't impex Microsoft Office documents. Oh wait, that's a desktop
gripe. :-)
* "You stupid nitwit, you can't exit to DOS, you don't have a keyboard!"
Nuff said.
My OmniGo ToDo list is getting pretty short. After getting LapLink to run
on it, the only thing left to is learn GEOS programming. Hmm, that should
only take a year or two. :-)
