Well, I did it. I can now run GeoWrite from my Home Screen!

Ofcourse you need at least a 5 meg flash card, some time to tinker, and like
to tinker with your GEOS.INI in OG Text mode. :-)

I basically zipped up my Ensemble directory, and unzipped it onto my flashdisk
E: drive on the omnigo. Then I replaced LOADER.EXE with with
A:\GEOWORKS\LOADER.EXE. Then I combined NET.INI and GEOS.INI and removed top =
SYS:\ and ini=a:\geoworks\net.ini. Add system = SYS:\SYSTEM and userdata =
SYS:\USERDATA. Copy SYS:\WORLD\*.GEO to E:\GEOWORKS\WORLD.

This is after spending a couple days messing with 4 different versions of
LOADER.EXE, 3 different versions of GEOS.GEO, and countless versions of
GEOS.INI.

There may be more to it than this, but as far as I can tell this is all you
need to do. For instance, you may need to get ahold of some OmniGo drivers
like JVIDEO.GEO, which is on the SYS:\ drive. Another possible intermediate
step is using the Ensemble LOADER.EXE and CGA video drivers.

If you take the time and money to do this, the results are very satisfying. I
can use the OmniGo spreadsheet or the Ensemble spreadsheet. One word: GeoComm.
I have full import/export/spelling/thesaurus and everything else that comes
with GeoWrite. I can delete Demo and Clip n Go, and arrange all my executables
in any combination of folders I want to. I can use both OmniGo's Setup and
Ensemble's Preference Manager. Even the HP Connectivity pack still works. I
can make launchers, and they work exactly like they do on the desktop!

I just got it working, and so far I have found three problems. First, Exit to
DOS still complains that the OmniGo doesn't have a keyboard, so I just use an
OmniSwap launcher instead. The Transfer application doesn't recognize any
files, but the connectivity pack still recognizes them. I'm sure with a little
bit of effort I can fix this. Finally, linking to the desktop still doesn't
work. :-(
