<<< GEOS is also defined by the platform that it is running on. Currently it
runs on the Apple,
Commodore, IBM PC Compatible, Hewlett Packard OmniGo >>>

might want to say 100/120 to distinguish from the 700 which is not Geos-based

<<< New GEOS devices like the
Hundai's Gulliver are expected soon. >>>

Instead of the Gulliver, which seems to be a dead project, how about
"New Geos devices are expected soon from Ericsson, NEC, Toshiba, and
Brother..."

<<< The IBM PC version, also referred to as the desktop version, was
originally marketed as QuickStart, then Ensemble, and now the New Deal
Office.>>>

Actually, Ensemble (1.0) was first, then Geoworks Pro (v1.2.8) , then Quick
Start (v1.2.9).

<<< QuickStart is the oldest version of the desktop version, version 1.2.8.
Basically it is Geoworks
Pro without the Pro (no Quattro Pro bundled with it). Many folks run
QuickStart on their XT and
AT compatible machines since it is the least resource intensive. QuickStart
can be bought from
Surplus Software (US orders 1-800-753-7877, International 541-386-1375).
QuickStart has
now been renamed to New Deal Designer and is available from the usual
republishers. >>>

It's Quick Start, with a space. It's oldest version commonly available, but
was preceded by Ensemble 1.0, 1.2, and Geoworks Pro. All the desktop software
has been turned over to New Deal. New Deal renamed it New Deal Designer and
offers (or will offer it soon) for sale.

<<< Ensemble runs on version 2.01 of GEOS. It contains all new versions of
the applications sold with
QuickStart, plus a spreadsheet and a flat file database. New Deal Office runs
on version 2.5 of
GEOS. While most of the applications have only minor bug fixes, the
underlining operating system
has some significant improvements. >>>

Ensemble is no longer available. New Deal sells a suite based on Geos version
2.1 under the name New Deal Office v2.5.

<<< Your guess is as good as mine. The initial version of V3.0 was completed
in July of 1996, and the
Nokia 9000 Communicator was released in September of 1996. However, a desktop
upgrade is
expected around May of 1997. >>>

... is expected from New Deal in the second quarter 1997....

<<<It isn't possible to run most other GEOS software with Geopublish because
Geopublish lacks the
ANSI C and/or Borland C libraries, which all applications written in C
automatically depend
upon. Any assembly based program (such as GeoDraw) will run fine, but almost
any shareware
will not. >>>

It isn't possible to run third-party software written in C with the SDK,
because...
an application written in assembly, such as Perf, will run fine....

<<< The 2.x desktop versions converts and uses the same fonts used by earlier
versions, and leaves
room for future font-conversion applications. There are 3 font packs
available directly from
Geoworks that provide a variety of typefaces, and both Micrologic and AllType
have font
conversion programs that support the Geoworks Nimbus font format. A wide
variety of fonts are
also available via FTP, networks, and supporting BBS's. >>>

There is one font pack (all three old ones combined into one now) is
available from New Deal, not from Geoworks.

<<< 2.5.2 Does GEOS do TCP/IP?
Not yet. At least two people are working on a DOS based TCP/IP wrapper for
GEOS, but your
best bet is to just wait for V3.0. V3.0 will include much better
communications support, bug fixes,
and new features like the system mailbox. >>>

Yes it does, but only in version 3.0, which has not yet been released for use
on desktop computers. The Nokia 9000 Communicator is the first available
device that makes use of Geos 3.0 and its tcp/ip features.

<<< Yes. A network version of GEOS, developed for Novell but discontinued, is
available form
Geoworks' Australian Republisher. SchoolView was also made to run on a
network. >>>

That's misleading. The network version of Ensemble was created by Geoworks as
a demo, but never shipped. New Deal is now offering a similar network version
of New Deal Office.
SchoolView is a Geos-based graphical interface for ICLAS, a popular network
management software for the K-12 academic market.

<<< The Geoworks text Fax-On-Demand files contain a lot of GEOS information.
They are current as
of "March 7, 1994", which is circa 2.0. The FOD files are available via FTP
in both text and
GeoWrite versions from ftp://ftp.geoworks.com/pub/fod/, and from
http://ourworld.compuserve.com/homepages/jbearden/geosinfo.htm. The FOD files
are also
available from Computermate Services in a printed and bound version for
Aus$39.95 plus
postage. That's about $US30 plus postage. >>>

The latest versions of the FaxOnDemand documents are in the charge of New
Deal, via their primary distributor USI, and are available from them, too.

<<< Use the individual file tool to install LOADERHG.EXE, then rename
LOADERHG.EXE to
LOADER.EXE >>>

That works if you have VGA video, since VGA doesn't support the Hercules
mode.

That's all I see on my quick walk through.
It's an excellent job and I really appreciate the work you put into it!
