Serial cable loop back test

I'm a new owner of a 120 and today I tried to connect it to a PC. In fact I
tried two PCs and also tried both Intellilink and the HP Installer program.
In all cases it failed to connect. Unless there is a trick somewhere, I
believe the COM port and baud rate are set up correctly.

I presume the problem is either the Omnigo or the cable. Is there a way of
testing to find out which or could there be another problem? In a recent
message "Hi! & Various" the loop back test was discussed. I have tried the
serial diagnostic which fails. How can I create a "loop back" cable?

Any advice would be appreciated.
