1. The screen is not backlit. It has a "holographic" green screen.
Initially, I was bothered by the glowing green. However, after having used
it for a while, it really works. It seems to absorb lite from multiple
angles. In the end, it is MUCH easier to see the screen! In the dark, the
screen is still dark.
2. The OmniGo 120 has Clip and Go and Pocket Quicken installed into the ROM.
The connectivity for these packages is not included. However, anything that
can save RAM is a bonus in my book. I LOVE Clip & and Go and use it daily.
3. Of the improvements, the most noticeable is the change in the Graffiti
implementation. You can now write anywhere on the screen! You no longer have
to try to scribble in the little boxes. Simply click in the box and start to
write. The characters will appear in the box!
4. It seems more stable. Perhaps this is my imagination, but I have not had
a single lock-up or crash since I started using the unit. I have loaded it
down with apps and have attempted many of the old ways to kill the unit and
it has endured it all. I even pulled the batteries, waited a few minutes and
replaced them. The RAM was still there!
5. There are no new communications tools or features to be noted. However,
all the old software that worked before still works. The OS version does not
appear to be any different.
I understand many are expecting a "new" OmniGo with a lot of new
enhancements. This is not the case. This is an improvement to the current
product, not a new product with all new designs. Perhaps that will come in
the future.
All in all, I think this is an excellent first revision. HP has obviously
listened to the consumer and tried to add some improvements that will
benefit the end user while not changing the design of the original OmniGo. I
have moved totally to the 120 and my 100 is collecting dust.
