Archiving old Agenda contents

Anyone got an idea on how to periodically delete old appointments,
archive them in a separate file, and later be able to load this file
into Agenda again? The purpose is to save main memory, speed up
Agenda's loading time, but still be able to go back and look at what I
did a few months ago.
