Gdbio DOES handle notes. It can export notes from .gdb files to ascii,
but cannot import them from ascii. You need to use the /n switch on the
program. Check the docs for the exact syntax, I'm not at the right
machine now to check it for you. You end of up a ascii file like this:
D "data item","data item","data item",""
N "notes data writtenout into a single line withno carriage returnsand
some words runtogether"
D "Next record","next record","next record",""
N "next note... also notice the blank record in the line above, that
represents the note as well, just ignore it"
SHAMELESS PLUG: My pogram GDBConvert will convert your .gdb into a .dbf,
which is usefull if you have FoxPro, Access, dBase, or just about any
database program. The note data is copied to a Memo field. It can also
export to excel or tab delimited, but then it dumps the notes.
GENERAL ANNOUNCMENT: I will update GDBConvert to version 0.2 soon. The
new version will 1) work in Windows 3.x and 2) be a lot smaller 3) come
bundled with gdbio. No new features will be added, I'll just clean it up
a lot. (v0.1 used uneeded libraries and long filenames, whoops)
It should be done by this weekend.
