I agree that the problem seems to be with keys which are not on the
main keyboard. However, "+" and "*" do exist solitarily on the numeric keypad.
I am not sure why they are not mapping correctly as you will notice
that Shift+ the respective arrow keys will yield 4 8 6 2 and "PREV",
and "NEXT" and "Del" appear to correspond to the keypad PgUp and End
with 9 and resulting when shifted. Likewise Shift Del correctly yields
"." (These keys also function properly with the ALT key for entering ANSI
escape sequences, but it is most irritating without 7 3 5) ;{
