Pinning down command.com

I just wanted to mention a couple of things which I have
noticed in playing around with the DOS command shell on the OGO100.
The first thing is that I was able to eliminate a lot of minor
irritations by manually setting the "COMSPEC" value in my
autoexec.bat. DOS would get temporarily lost when running things
like Volker Commander (awesome program, BTW many thanks to whomever
mentioned it, saves much time). The mini-command apparently does not
accept the path as a parameter in the shell statement as MS/PC/Novell
versions do.
The other thing I noticed is that the command interpreter does
not accept PROMPT and PATH as standalone statements (i.e. set
prompt=$p$g will work, but prompt $p$g is not understood). I did
not notice this at first as somewhere somehow the prompt value seems to be set
by default and the prompt statement in the autoexec was doing
nothing. This was a bit more difficult to track down as I also
discovered that unless the command path is implicitly stated with
ogtmode.exe all error reporting disappears at the command entry
level.
I apologize in advance if this is old news, but it was new to me.
