Thanks. Here is the forwarded message, as you requested.

Since my original message, I've been able to install apps on the sram
card and have them come up on the home screen without any problems.
I usually don't have to shift-on-next reboot.

I have had some problem getting the express menu to list these installed
apps. It is working now, and I'll save this copy of geos.ini before I do
any more further experimenting with "expert mode" settings (Thanks,
Nate).

David

You do not need to use Express mode. There are two things to consider:

1. If you used Installer to install apps like PQ to the PCMCIA card on the OmniGo (not internal memory), then try rebooting (SHIFT+ON+NEXT).

2. If you did not install apps via step 1, but used something like omnicomm, then make sure you installed the apps in c:\geoworks\world or some subdirectory below it. Otherwise, it will not show up in the Home folder or such.

The help for the Nathan Fiedler's Express Mode program should explain nearly all the useful options for the OmniGo. The only other useful one of which I can think offhand is the option to change the apps mapping of the OmniGo's hard icons. For example, because I don't use my Spreadsheet app often, I remapped that icon for launching Pocket Quicken at the end of GEOS.INI like this:

[hardIconBar] app7 = Pocket Quicken

Apparently, the icons start from app0 for Home to app11 for Rotate. Use the exact GEOS app name that the OmniGo recognizes (eg. as shown in the Home folder or in BMS File Manager).

This is not possible. Common knowledge is that they do not use up RAM space anyway although I wonder if this is 100% accurate technically speaking. They do register the use of a small amount of file storage and can be copied to elsewhere on the ramdisk. In any case, they certainly do not use up any more RAM space than necessary.

No problem. That's what many of us seem to stick around here for. :)

Have fun! be productive ;-) and enjoy!!
