Posting of Binary Files

I guess it's finally time to set a policy regarding the posting of binary
files to the list, since 3 were attempted today. I hate to ruin everyones
fun but

Please DO NOT post any binary files to the list.

First, email lists are a horribly inefficient way to distribute large files,
since a copy gets made and sent to everyone on the list whether or not they
want it. Second, there are over 100 people who read the list via the digest.
Email attachments don't work for them. So if you have something you wish
to share, please put it on a web page or put it up for anon ftp and then
send just the url to the list. If you don't have access to either, then
contact me privately and I will arrange something for you. Due to an error
in one of my scripts, the files that were bounced today were lost. All I
got was an error message saying a binary had gotten bounced but it didnt
include the author nor the content. If you tried to submit a binary, please
make it available to the group following the above guidelines. Thanks.
