Early review of Intellilink

I was eager to use two features of IntelliLink with the Omnigo:

- dBase files, I'd like to be able to import database Note fields.
- Schedule+ from Windows 95 to the Omnigo calendar.

I ordered the product when I read on this list that it was available.
It arrived promptly.

Data base files are not supported by IntelliLink for the OmniGo.
At least not in the fashion I'd hoped. I suspect I can transfer my
calendar to a dBase file, but support for arbitrary GDB files seems
to only exist for other HP hand-helds.

Reading the OmniGo calendar into Schedule+ had some problems with
dates of recurring appointments. Some bi-weekly appointments showed
up a week off. Easily corrected not a big deal.

Unfortunately copying the Schedule+ data back to the OmniGo seems to have
several problems. Some recurring appointments showed up as To Do list
items, instead of appointments. Duplicate copies of some appointments
appeared.

About the third time I downloaded I began to get a windows 95
"Application Error, Continue / Ignore" dialog, followed by an
"Unspecifed Error" dialog from IntelliLink.

I have the HP connectivity pack and backups of my data, so I reset the
Omnigo to "factory condition" [Shift+On+Next followed by C], left the
Appointment book cleared out, and tried downloading from Schedule+ again.
I still get the "Unspecified Error" dialog.

That was enough fun for a Friday afternoon. I spent 25 minutes on
hold at their help line and then decided I'd rather fire off a bad
tempered, ill-considered, message to hundreds of strangers.

I'd like for the product to work. I really hope I'm sending off
a message next week apologizing for not reading the manual carefully,
or something.

If you're working on an application that allows notes fields to be
imported into GDB files, please keep working.
