The GEOS timer uses the 2nd timer on the 8253 chip. On some PC's it
generates an interrupt every millisecond. On some it does every other
millisecond. It can be set to either one. My guess is that GEOS is
assuming it's set to 1 millisecond but not ensuring that it is.
Can anyone confirm/deny that?
