Mini-Database using PalmAddress

How to make a Mini-database using the PalmAddress Application:

This type of database might be useful in keeping track of details about your investment portfolio, music collection, tropical fish, auto servicing, etc. Review the PalmAddress documentation in the Zoomer User's Guide before proceeding.

• PalmAddress is structured as a database which includes the following fields:
  • Fields 1-16: predefined fields (incl. F16-Notes field)
  • Fields 17-20: user definable fields
  • Field 21: Sketch Page
• You can choose to display any or all of the fields.
• Each field can contain up to 30K bytes.
• Available memory limits how much can actually be stored or imported.

Open the PalmAddress application. Tap FILE, SWITCH DOCUMENT..., NEW to create a new Address book. Name your file appropriately. This trivial example is a "Gift Reminder". Open the menubar and minimize to top of screen.

Tap OPTIONS on the menubar and select DISPLAY FIELDS. Deselect all fields except Name, Address, City, Zip, Notes, and the 4 Custom fields. Tap OK.

Tap OPTIONS again and select EDIT CUSTOM FIELD LABELS... ((NOTE: Field names are limited to 10 characters!)) You can name all of your fields before tapping OK. Fields are:

BIRTHDAY
AGE
SIZE
COLOR PREF

Enter the information as desired. (All of these entries are fictitious!) Example entry:

Name: Amelia Droflumer
Address: 2364 Yurok Av.
City: Arcata, CA, 94211
Notes: She's very punk.. Listens to Religeous Heavy Metal. Into really gross earings. Wants large poster of the Dying Salmon Band
Birthday: September 1
Gift last year: Black leather jacket
Size: Juniors, large. Shoes-size 10
Color Pref: She only wears black. Leather preferred.
