File Linking to a PCMCIA Card
Frequently users of a PCMCIA memory card on the PDA will want
to use PalmConnect to copy a file from the PC to the PCMCIA card.
- This process must be done from the PDA
- The source file must be on the same drive/partition on the
PC as PalmConnect.
You may use the "Drag and Drop" method of File Linking if there
is no file structure on the memory card, or use the File>Copy
method to put the file in a particular folder on the card.
- Move the source file to the same drive/partition on the PC as PalmConnect.
- Establish file linking between the PDA and PC. Don't close
the PDA Drives window.
- On the PDA, tap the drive in the Drives window which represents the PC.
- Navigate the folders in the file manager until the source
file is visible. Highlight the file.
- Either just drag the source file to the "PC-Card" drive icon
in the drives window and drop it,
OR, tap the File menu and choose Copy.
- Tap the Drive button on the Copy dialog box and choose the "PC-Card" drive.
- Navigate the folders in the dialog box to the correct folder
on the memory card,
- Double-tap the desired folder to open it. The folder icon
will change from closed to open.
- Tap the Copy button to initiate the copy.
- Note the source and target pathnames in the alert box describing the copy.
You must break the file linking connection prior to opening a file/application.
To copy a file from the memory card to the PC, you must use the
File>Copy method from the PDA file manager.
