Yes. It's true! The decision was actually made several weeks ago.
The story I got from the rep was that "many folks need more time
to budget for money to pay for the new software". *I* interpret
this to mean, 'many schools (the prime "customers") with XTs, or
other platforms that won't be supported any more, rebelled against
having to acquire new hardware to run the new software'.
