Usenet and X*Press

I want to go on record supporting Selden's terrific statement regarding
the software and the copyrighted articles.

The use of news reader format is a real convenience since the news
reader/article database combination is very well suited to reading the news
feed. However, any references to C-News, NN, or "net news" should not
encourage the reader to attempt to send the articles into the Usenet network!

C-News and NN can be configured to work together without any connection to
Usenet. My system is a good example of such an installation. It is this
"local only" configuration that we are discussing. My understanding is that a
good usenet site administrator can configure news on a site to accept the
X*Press feed and make the articles available to the local site without
permitting their transmission to other sites in the news feed.

We may want to add a "Distribution: X*PRESS" line to the article headers
to assist in this configuration.
