Battery BS

Greetings folks,

Back in September I had been in contact with Lisa Schoenberg at NEC,
the person who was handling the UltraLite battery problems. After sending
back the second batch of bad batteries I have heard nothing from Lisa and
until now have been a bit distracted.

Today I attempted to speak with Lisa to find out why I've heard nothing
about the replacement batteries in about two months. Turns out that she is
no longer handling that account! The new contact person is Tim Hanna, at
the same number 800-366-3632.

According to Tim, NEC could not find any good replacement batteries in
their warehouses here in North America. He also said that the techs have
determined that the problem lies in the chip in the battery pack that
controls charge levels (duh, we knew that already) and that they are
allegedly working on a solution in Japan. Yeah, right. Tim also said that
he would be in touch with anyone who has contacted them as soon as NEC
solves the problem.

Well, I'm not going to hold my breath over this. I suppose it is time
to track down an Apple Macintosh printer cable and use that to build an
external battery pack with NiCd "C" cells....<sigh>...

Best Regards,
Greg
