parallel adaptor needs AC power?

Does anyone know if the parallel port adaptor for the UltraLite requires the
UltraLite to be powered from the AC adaptor? I'm not talking about the
parallel port on the floppy drive, but rather, the standalone parallel port
adaptor (part number 1761).
