[Sorry if you've gotten this message twice. I screwed up something in the
way that the mailing list is handled, the result of which was that a bad
mail header was inserted into the message. Some sites bounced it, and
others may have tossed it into the trash. So, I'm sending it again. Not
that the message is all *that* important, but I do want to make sure that
the list is still working! -Brian]

I finally got a response to my queries about UltraLite information
and/or files on the Official NEC Bulletin Board. You may recall that
I first contacted the NEC BBS in April (!) and had not yet received
so much as a peep of a response. I tried One Last Time about a week
ago, and got two responses.

The first one was a reply to a flame I blew at them publically.
Evidently, the replier was somewhat less than happy about the NEC BBS:

> phooooiii to the NEC BBS for not responding to UltraLite Queries!

Amen to that, and another big phooooiii for not responding to my
PowerMate comm port question. Guess I'll have to go bother the folks
in Wood Dale by voice phone. Why have a support BBS if nobody's
reading the questions?
-------

The second response was a reply to my third "comment to the sysop"
asking about UltraLite information. It's not real encouraging
when a representative of the manufacturer refers you to a dealer
who no longer does much with the product either:

Brian,

We do not have any messages or files specific to the Ultralite
computer. The only other source that I am aware of specific to the
Ultralite was the Ultralite Connection published by Personalized
Computing out of Fairfield, IA 1-800-373-6114. I believe that the
Ultralite Connection was cancelled but they may have some back issuses
of sale.

What the heck, I hate BBS's anyway... I hope that this saves the rest
of you some time and/or telephone bills. However, if you happen to
stumble on another BBS or some other source for UltraLite lore,
please share it.
