"Of me" will work for objects in a group. However, "the target" refers
only to the object interacted on by the user. Try "the owner of me" to
get the group name, or "the owner of the target" to get the owner of the
object clicked on.

If you simply refer to objects by name, but have three groups containing
copies of this object, then only one set of objects will be affected.
The target will return what object was clicked on, but it only gives the
name - which could therefore refer to any of the duplicate objects on the
card.
If it gets too complicated, you could always take the easy way out and
give all the objects unique names. That way you'll never have to refer
to the group involved at all - any script at any level will always find
the same object with a unique name.
