The first beta test release of MetaCard 2.1.1 is now available from
ftp://ftp.metacard.com/MetaCard/2.1.1B1. Lots of nifty new features
have been added for this release including support for building
single-file executables, backdrop windows, autoformatting for the
script editor, bitwise operators, and built-in HTTP GET and POST. The
Win32 engine now has support for getting and setting Registry entries,
and reading and writing serial ports. In addition, all outstanding
bugs in 2.1 have been fixed.

To install this release, make a new directory and copy your Home stack
into it. Then download an engine, mctools.mc.gz and mchelp.mc.gz.
Run "gunzip *.gz" and then rename the engine to "mc". Like the UNIX
engines, the Win32 engine is distributed as a separate file in this
release. You need to get gunzip.exe to gunzip it, and then rename it
to "mc.exe".

After installing 2.1.1B1, please complete our on-line survey if you're
running MetaCard on a system with direct Internet access (sorry,
proxies are not supported yet). Just run the following in the Message
Box:
go url "http://www.metacard.com/survey.mc"

After filling out the "wizard", click on the "Post" button to post it to
the MetaCard WWW site, which will process it using a MetaTalk script
(which you can view as http://www.metacard.com/survey.mt), and then
send you back a summary of how the voting is going so far.
