Here it is again:
MetaCard's WWW site (http://www.metacard.com/) has turned out to be
pretty popular (especially considering we still haven't made any
official announcements about it), and so we're planning to expand it
greatly over the next couple of months. One of the most important
things we'll be adding is examples of applications our customers have
developed in MetaCard.
In order to do this, we'll need your help. Please send us a screen
shot of your MetaCard stack, along with a paragraph or two describing
what it does. If you have a longer document describing the stack,
your product, or your company, and would like us to include a link to
it, go ahead and email that to us too. If you or your company has a
WWW home page, be sure to include the URL in your description.
Testimonials about MetaCard are encouraged ;-) but email addresses are
optional.
The size and color usage of the snapshot doesn't really matter, but be
aware that we'll be scaling and possibly color quantizing them to
achieve some uniformity in the look of the various listings. As a
result, you can't count on the text in the image being readable, so be
sure any important points are included in the description. You can
use "xwd" to take the snapshot if you want, but we can accept pretty
much any other format too. Please gzip and uuencode the image before
emailing it to support@metacard.com. See the attached script for more
detailed instructions.
Of course we don't want to divulge any proprietary information, so
please clear your submission with your marketing/PR/legal people
before sending it in. Don't be afraid to make your description vague
if that will help get it through this gauntlet. We need your
participation!
I look forward to seeing what you've been up to,
Scott
xwd > mystack.xwd # click in your stack window after running this
xwud < mystack.xwd # verify that you got the right window
gzip mystack.xwd # you could also use "compress"
uuencode mystack.xwd.gz mystack.xwd.gz > mystack.uu
mail -s "stack name" support@metacard.com < mystack.uu # or mailx or Mail
rm mystack.xwd.gz mystack.uu
