I'm not sure what you did here, but is probably wasn't necessary. Try
reading the BinHex file directly (type go "filename" into the Message
Box). Your BinHex file should start out something like:
(This file must be converted with BinHex 4.0)

If you're talking about the MetaCard demo stacks, that's right. All
stacks have a shell script tacked on the front so that you can run
them from the command line. HyperCard stacks have a completely
different format and are unrecognizabe as stacks unless you run them
through something like od -c (look for the STAK tag).
