Announcing the MetaCard Stack Contest!
Submit your best stacks for your chance at fame and fortune. All
entrants will also receive a limited edition MetaCard Stack Contest
T-shirt. That's right: everyone wins!
Prizes will be awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place in each of the
following 3 categories:
Best application stack
(includes development tools, utilities, games, databases)
Best educational stack
(includes training packages, documentation, reference material)
Best presentation stack
(includes demos, product brochures, multimedia presentations)
Please suggest a category with your entry, but judges reserve the
right to reassign submissions to other categories if appropriate.
First prize in each category is a pair of self-powered computer
speakers, to improve your multimedia output. Second prize is a
quality microphone, to improve your multimedia input. Third prize
will be a copy of SimCity for your workstation (courtesy of DUX
software).
Submitted stacks will be made available for FTP from MetaCard's
Internet archive sites, and will be put on CD and tape distributions
of MetaCard 1.3. Your name will be spread far and wide, and your
quality work will be an example for others to follow for years to
come.
Detailed entry rules:
All submissions must run correctly under MetaCard 1.3, and must work
on color workstations on all platforms supported by MetaCard. There
are no size restrictions, but the judges may award extra points for
concise stacks.
Converted HyperCard stacks are permitted, provided that the HyperCard
stack was developed by the submitting individual or their
organization.
Multiple submissions from the same individual/organization are
allowed, however only 1 T-shirt per license will be provided
(multi-user packs count as 1 license).
Stacks that require externals, other 'C' programs or shell scripts
will be accepted provided that the source can be easily recompiled
using standard libraries on any platform MetaCard is supported on. Of
course, back end routines simulated in MetaTalk would be preferred,
and may be awarded extra points by the judges.
Three judges have graciously volunteered their services:
1) Martha Hughes of Technical Arts Group, who is working on a book
about MetaCard.
2) Richard Fozzard, an experienced HyperCard developer and MetaCard
aficianado (but not a MetaCard licensee).
3) Alan Southerton, former products editor of UnixWorld magazine.
Scott Raney of MetaCard Corporation will act as contest coordinator.
Submissions must be received by Thursday March 31, 1994. Winners will be
announced April 30, 1994.
Submission by email (compressed and uuencoded) to support@metacard.com
is preferred, but entries will also be accepted on 3.5" tar format
floppies, QIC 60/150 format tapes and CD-ROM. Please send your entry
