Thanks for your email. Licensing breaks are a very good idea. I'm also
sure you're correct about MetaCard being a GUI builder, but am not enough
of a programmer (OK NOTHING of a programmer) to know how it might stack up
against tcl/tk - although I get the impression MetaCard is easier to handle,
and to produce nice stuff more quickly.

We've considered using tcl/tk. From strickly a programming point of
view I think its better (the scripting language contains more powerful
programming constructs very similar to those found in "PERL").

The overriding consideration for me however, is bug fixes. MetaCard
has been extremely good with support. There is not substitute for
having the success of the product directly and severely effect the
success of the people supporting it.

The odd thing is, I like MetaCard over Tcl partly BECAUSE it is
commercial.
